Harris County, TX
Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is the county health department for Harris County, the most populous county in Texas and third most populous county in the United States. HCPH is nationally accredited under Project Public Health Ready (PPHR), a criteria-based training and recognition program for local health departments set forth by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC). This recognition is an attestation that HCPH meets the criteria for having the capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies.
In 2021, HCPH brought in external support in preparation for the 2022 PPHR Reaccreditation process, which is a requirement for local health departments that wish to maintain NACCHO recognition.
Emergency Management engagement focused on:
- Thorough review and update of HCPH preparedness plans per latest PPHR criteria
- Thorough review and update of HCPH preparedness plans per Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) criteria
- Close coordination with HCPH’s Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR)
